New Delhi: The Central government has ordered a nationwide ban on onion exports. The nationwide manufacturing sector has suffered a major downturn amid the corona impact. Mainly the production of essential commodities has been affected. Products are wasted without reaching the people on time.
Onion prices have been rising across the country for the past week. Due to the low onion supply in New Delhi, the price of onion there has gone up by Rs.40. In Tamil Nadu, the price of onion in various places is around Rs. 50 per kg. These prices may rise sharply in the upcoming days.
The Central Government has ordered a ban on onion exports across the country. Accordingly, onions cannot be exported until further orders.
Exports of all types of onions are banned. But it is not forbidden to cut onions, shred them and export them as powder.
