Thuruvi Sanyasi Rao (51) from Ambattur, Chennai, was researching the service center of a private company on the internet, came up with a link called Team viewer Quick support app, to help Druvi Sanyasi Rao in an advertisement on the internet as a customer service.
The opposite person told him to upload his details and credit card details. He also uploaded the details. Within minutes, Durvi Sanyasi Rao received a text message that Rs 39,998 had been taken from his Citibank credit card.
Shocked by this, Druvi Sanyasirao held up a complaint with the cyber unit of the Ambattur Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Following the complaint, the Ambattur police district cybercrime unit conducted an investigation. Ambattur, Cyber Crime Investigation, found that the complaint statement was genuine and contacted the Citibank where the transaction done, and took legal action to recover the swindled money from the complaint.
Citibank management paid Rs. 19,999 / – to the bank account of Durvi Sanyasirava. Thuruvi Sanyasirao thanked the Washermenpet cybercrime unit police, for receiving the money within 24 hours from the bank management.
