Chennai Corporation is taking various measures to promote the use of bicycles. A new bicycle home delivery service with a monthly rental of Rs.1000 is to be introduced.
Already, the Chennai Corporation has launched and implemented a bicycle-sharing scheme. In that regard, the facility of taking the bicycle home for a monthly rental is to be introduced.
According to a corporation official, the facility has been introduced to take bicycles to the home monthly. Accordingly, the charge is Rs.299 per week, Rs.599 for 15 days, and Rs.999 for 30 days.
Those who want to get a bicycle under this scheme should contact 044 – 26644440 to book their bicycle requirement. After booking, the bicycle will be delivered to the home address of the user by the Corporation of Chennai. Then a certain amount has to be paid in advance to the public. After that, the user can use the bicycle until the selected days. Then, the corporation of Chennai will come and get the bicycle.
As part of the launch of the project, more than 150 bicycles have been made available to the public at more than 30 locations in Chennai, including Shenoy Nagar, Anna Nagar West, Thirumangalam, Mugappair, Annasalai, and Poonamalle Highway.
