Vernon Philander, who has played for South Africa for 12 years, has played in 64 Tests, 30 ODIs, and 7 T20s. He has taken 224 wickets in Tests, 41 wickets in ODIs, and 4 wickets in T20s. He retired from international cricket earlier this year.
Philander’s brother, Tyrone was shot dead near Cape Town. Tyrone, 32, was allegedly shot dead by an unidentified man. Following this, the police have registered a case and are investigating the murder.
Commenting on his brother’s death, Philander s said: ”We are trying to recover from the loss of a brother. We all need to respect our feelings in this difficult environment.
