Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the non-inclusion of Tamil in the academic qualification for the degree conducted by the Department of Archeology.
Pandit Deenadayal Upadhyaya College of Archeology is functioning under the Central Archaeological Department. Applications for postgraduate studies in this college were welcomed and a notice was issued by the College Administration.
But it does not include the classical Tamil language. There was opposition to this from various quarters. On Thursday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi in this regard. In that letter, he stressed that action should be taken to include Tamil in the archeology diploma course.
Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has stated that out of 48 thousand inscriptions there are more than 28 thousand in the Tamil language.
