The British Commission in India holds an annual competition entitled “High Commissioner for a Day”. Women between the age of 18 and 23 from India can participate. “International Girl Child Day” is celebrated annually on October 11. This competition has been running since 2017.
This year’s competition was won by 18-year-old Chaitanya Venkateswaran from Delhi. Following this, she became the highest-ranking British High Commission in India in Delhi last Wednesday.
Deputy British High Commissioner Jan Thompson said, “This year has been a rare opportunity for the best young women. 215 people took part in it. Among them, Chaitanya won.
I was very excited when I handed over my responsibilities to Chaitanya. But that one-day Chaitanya’s activities really impressed me. I’m looking forward to what Chaitanya is going to achieve next. ”
