The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission conducted the selection on August 26, 2017, to select the required staff for the Group 2A 1,953 vacancies in 41 departments of the Government of Tamil Nadu. 5.56 lakh people wrote this exam. The results of this examination were last released in March 2018.
All those who passed the exam are now in government service. Following the results of the examination, there were complaints of irregularities in the examination.

In this situation, the CBCID registered a case and arrested 16 people in connection with the Group 4 examination irregularities conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission in 2019.
In this, Sivaraj and Vignesh from Villupuram wrote and passed the examination at Rameswaram Center. The two were paid Rs 7.5 lakh each and passed the exam illegally, according to an investigation by CBCID officials.
In the last 15 days, CBCID officials have arrested six more people, including government officials involved in the case, in various districts across Tamil Nadu. According to the CBCID, the arrest was made within 15 days of the complaint being lodged.
