The Uttar Pradesh government yesterday filed a statement in the Supreme Court that the family of a Hathras woman has been given three-layer protection. The Hathras sexual assault incident caused great controversy across the country.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had recommended the CBI to probe the incident, but the Supreme court by saying, ‘How are all the witnesses involved in this case being protected?
On May 6, the court ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to file a full report on whether there were any legal issues involved or whether lawyers had been selected for the victim’s family.
Similarly, the witnesses in the case have been protected by the CBI. The Supreme court has directed the CBI to obtain a status report from the state government on the case.
