In 1995, Shah Rukh Khan starred in Kajol’s hugely successful film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’. The film was directed by Aditya Chopra. The film, which was shot for just Rs 4 crore, grossed Rs 102.50 crore during the same period.
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the film’s release. Actor Shah Rukh Khan recalls his memories of the film: ‘A lot of people have told me that I look weird and I didn’t have to look like a hero feel.
I realized I was cute enough and not like ‘Chocolate Boy’. Thus I thought romantic pictures would not match. Not only that, but I was also shy to talk to women. I don’t even know how to properly speak the verses that come in love scenes. I do not like romantic movies and I have to admit that the love scenes that Kajol and I acted in were pleasant. It was only later that I realized that it was one of the characters I played myself. You can see the antics and behaviors you see behind the scenes in the picture. Especially in comedy scenes. Thus said, Sharukh Khan.
DDLJ is the longest-running movie in Indian history. The film ran at the Maratha Mandir Theater in Mumbai for almost 20 years.
