A 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped by four men on September 14 in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district. The teenager, who was being treated at a hospital for sexual assault, died on September 29. The incident has caused great controversy across the country.
Sandeep Singh, Ramu Singh, Ravi Singh, and Lovekush Singh have been arrested and jailed for raping a girl for causing her death. Further, the investigation into the incident has been handed over to the CBI. Subsequently, the CBI is investigating the case against several individuals at various stages.
The petition was filed in the apex court seeking transfer of the Hathras case from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi and directing the case to be directly monitored by the Supreme court.

Rejecting the petitioner’s request, the judges said that the Allahabad High Court would oversee the ongoing Hathras sexual harassment case under the CBI investigation and that the trial would be under the supervision of the Allahabad High Court.
