Minister-level talks were recently held to further strengthen military cooperation between India and the United States. Major agreements were signed.
The United States has offered to sell F-18 fighter jets for use by the Indian Navy. The Sea Guardian has also offered to sell modern weapons, including drones.

According to Government sources, the U.S government has offered to supply its naval fighter jet F-18 to the Indian Navy, as proposed by the defense representatives of the two countries during the recent 2 + 2 talks.

The Indian Navy announced a few years ago to acquire 57 warplanes for use in attacks from the current INS Vikramaditya and the aircraft carrier currently under construction.
