The Enforcement and Customs Department has registered a case against former Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister M. Sivasankar in connection with the Kerala gold smuggling and is actively investigating. Following this, Sivasankar had filed petitions in the Kerala High Court seeking pre-bail. But the judges refused to grant anticipatory bail to Sivashankar. His petitions were dismissed yesterday.
Following this, Sivasankara was taken away by the enforcement officers for investigation. He was interrogated for about 6 hours, raising various questions about the gold smuggling. He was arrested at the end of the trial.
In this situation, the enforcement officers produced Sivasankara in the Ernakulam court this morning. At that time, the enforcement department requested that Sivashankar be remanded in custody for 14 days as he had to obtain various information in the gold smuggling case.

After considering the request, the court allowed Sivasankara to be remanded in custody for 7 days. Sivashankar has been suspended on charges of gold smuggling.
