A review meeting on road accidents was held yesterday at the Dubai Police Headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, head of the Dubai Police Department.

Speaking at the event, Abdullah bin Khalifa, Head of the Traffic Accident Department of the Dubai Police, said: Various measures are being taken to prevent fatalities due to road accidents in Dubai. Awareness programs on this are being conducted regularly. This is being propagated especially through the media and social websites. This awareness is also being spread among the students studying in schools and colleges.
As a result of this series of efforts, 66 people were killed in road accidents in Dubai between January and September. The number was 132 during the same period last year. So the number of deaths due to accidents in the first 9 months of this year is 42 percent less than last year. Similarly, road accidents have been reduced by 46 percent.

Traffic was light at this time of night due to the first curfew. As a result, the incidence of accidents has been greatly reduced. The death toll has dropped as accidents have decreased. Thus he said.
