A powerful earthquake has shaken the Ekan Islands in western Turkey. It is reported to be 7.0 on the Richter scale.
The coastal city of Izmir was badly affected by the quake. The apartment collapsed like a deck of cards due to the terrible earthquake.
More than 20 buildings collapsed and were completely damaged.
The Turkish government said many people may have been trapped in the rubble, killing at least 14 people and injuring 419 in the first phase. According to the Turkish media, there were 196 aftershocks in the aftermath of the quake. Of these, 23 earthquakes measuring more than 4 on the Richter scale were reported
Meanwhile, the death toll from the building collapse rose to 22 and 786 people were injured, according to the disaster relief team.
The National Disaster Rescue Team and the public are involved in the search for those trapped in the rubble.
