University Vice-Chancellor M.K Surappa had arbitrarily written a letter to the Central Human Resources Department asking them to give higher special status to Anna University. It is said that he mentioned various things in it.
The Minister of Higher Education KP Anpalagan had stated that the Government of Tamil Nadu will provide all assistance to improve the university at its present stage and that no special status is required.
In this situation, the Tamil Nadu government has written a letter to the Central Government saying that Anna University does not need special status. According to Vice-Chancellor Surappa, Anna University alone cannot raise funds.
KP Anbalagan, Senkottaiyan, Thangamani, Jayakumar, and CV Shanmugam were among the ministers who were appointed to discuss the high special status.
